Guenther Reissner
MIFA 2021 Winner, 1st Place in Architecture (Non-Professional) – “Abandoned Sanatorium“
An Austrian Sales Representative for home and garden decorations, Guenther Reissner has been snapping photos from early in his teenage years. His passion for photography, however, came later, about ten years ago.
Q: Tell us a bit more about your winning project and what inspired you to do it?
I took lost places tours to Poland and Germany. Searching and finding these places is exciting and the fascination lies precisely in the originality and the lack of development, which gives me the opportunity to go on a voyage of discovery and the ability to experience history at first hand.
Q: What type of photos do you like to take in your free time?
I am primarily a landscape photographer, but Architecture- and Monochrome Photography also interests me.
Q: What genre of photography is new to you that you would like to explore?
I’d like to explore Still Life Photography a bit more.
Q: Besides a camera, what do you think are the three most important tools of a photographer?
Good lenses, a tripod and filters.
Q: How do you know when a body of work is completed?
When I am happy with it after post processing.
Q: If it could be anything at all, what would your photography dream project be?
Being on a Photo Tour in the Arctic.
Q: If you could take one last photo in your life, what would it be?
Of my family.
Q: Who/what is your biggest source of inspiration?
Being out in Nature and exploring it, is my biggest inspiration.
Q: What advice would you give to aspiring photographers?
Take workshops, reads books and magazines about Photography, go out and explore, take lots of photos.
