This photographic work documenting the phenomenon of sky-bar in Bangkok, the "bar on the roof of skyscrapers" already present in several countries of the world and that, more than anywhere else in the Thai capital have been launched in a big way. Born on the skyscrapers of New York, the first is the "230 Fifth" on the street with a view of the Empire State building, now represent a trend costume of our times. An aperitif at high altitude is today synonymous with luxury, power, consumerism, a status symbol, more and more sought after by all, and the reach of many. If in Western society that bases its foundations on consumerism seems natural development of this phenomenon, as it can be interpreted in Thai society? The East and the West in the collective imagination are conceived as opposing elements as well as black and white, day and night. But the dividing line between East and West is really so clear and defined? The questions then we set are: in a city like Bangkok, still so torn between tradition and modernity, what are the "bar one step from heaven"? How is the city for this phenomenon? It 's just one of the many tourist attractions or expresses, however, a change of the local culture? The photos were taken in between the months of May and June of 2014, at a time incidentally full of national crisis, having been given the announcement of yet another coup by the Thai army chief, Prayuth Changer Ocha, just a few weeks before.
