Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) is a Salafi jihadist militant group that follows an Islamic fundamentalist, Wahhabi doctrine of Sunni Islam. While ISIS calls itself the real executer of Islamic rules, so many other muslems blame them for diverging from Islamic rules and introducing a brutal Islam. ISIS attracted Jihadis from all around the world even from none-Islamic countries. A United Nations report highlighting the human rights violations of the Islamic State's jihadist campaign in Iraq found that while over 24,000 Iraqi civilians have been injured or killed by ISIS in the first eight months of 2014, and the extremists have taken up the practices of recruiting 12- and 13-year-old soldiers and forcing women and girls into sex slavery. As of December 2015, the group has control over vast landlocked territories in Iraq and Syria with population estimates ranging between 2.8 million and 8 million people, where it enforces Sharia law. A UN report estimated a total of 15,000 fighters from over 80 countries in ISIL's ranks as of November 2014.]US intelligence estimated an increase to around 20,000 foreign fighters in February 2015, including 3,400 from Western countries. Killing of captives, Military use of children, Sexual violence and slavery, Beheadings and mass executions, Destruction of cultural and religious heritage and Use of chemical weapons is some of their most brutal crimes during war in Syria and Iraq. ……………………………………………………………………… I start working in this photography project from end of 2012 at both Syria and Iraq when conflict start at Syria and still is going on. As a photographer, I believe that Islam is just an excuse for ISIS to took the area and have control of people and use them and i want to show people are real victims of this extreme idea and daily they killed, raped and used and they have to runaway from their land and try to find a safe place which can not be their home.
Younes Mohammad, born in 1968, in Dohuk, is a Kurdish photographer. He is currently based out of Erbil. He works as a freelancer on assignments for newspapers and magazines. Although he has had a life-long passion for photography he was unable to pursue it due to the war - ultimately, he spent much time in Iran as a refugee from 1974 to 1998. He graduated with an MBA from the University of Tehran. In 2011, he quit his job and started his journey as a photographer. His work has been exhibited internationally and published widely in publications and he is the recipient of multiple awards.
