With more than 20,000 homicides in the last five years, El Salvador has failed to overcome the internal conflict experienced during the eighties. For many people the situation is now even worse. Although the war has not been officially declared, the president, Salvador Sanchez Cerén, acknowledged this year that there is no space for truces between gangs and the need to fight against them.
