The clay courts of Roland Garros at the 2017 French Open Tennis Tournament provide a blank canvas for random lines and shapes as players slide, balls bounce and feet try and gain a grip in the soft dirt surface. The results are patterns in the clay, a canvas of unique artistic creation of the movement and endeavors of players as they battle for supremacy on the clay surface. At the end of the set the canvas is wiped, fresh and clean again, ready for the next creations on the clay surface.

Tim Clayton Freelance Sports Photojournalist Tim trained at Yorkshire Post Newspapers in Leeds, UK, his home town for a decade before moving to Australia in 1990 to take up a position as Sports Photographer for The Sydney Morning Herald, which he held for 18 years. Tim left the paper in 2008 to freelance and traveled extensively for four years. He is now residing in Connecticut while shooting major sports worldwide.
