The country I grew up was surrounded by sea, both side of sea present different color, landscape, living condition, and also political wrangling. My hometown was once a seaside historical site, a survived Portuguese fort build beside the Melaka Straits, five minute walk from my home. Many stories happened here and change the history of this country. Times pass by, the sea was retreated far and far away after the land reclamation projects, the historical breathe gone in the fast pace of the city. A Piece of Expired Sea is an ongoing project, I choose to travel around the both seaside of my country, to explore the different lineaments of different seascape, what shaped them and changed their looks? Who will remember the history of the seascape after all? The medium I use to create this series of work is medium format expired film. Everything will be expired someday, for example, the life, the thought, the creation and also, a landscape, a history.
