Here is the statement about my project: Objects hold stories, power and history, not only of themselves, but also of the people who hold onto them, through years, relocations, losses and gains. In this series I am photographing a wide range of people, each holding the object of personal significance. These objects, and their relationship to the people who possess them, reveal insights into their surrounded socioeconomic and cultural contexts. Additionally, the presence of the individual's chosen object immediately deepens the viewer's experience of the subject, and brings forth intimate intimate information that would not be forthcoming in a traditional portrait. The portraits are taken in a personal space, at home, workplace, a favorite hang out, or any other place meaningful to the subject of the photograph. As part of the series, each subject writes about their objects, I have included a few examples.
