No more heroes

Our society reproduces war models in an attempt to familiarize its members with the idea of “war”. Veterans and soldiers are considered heroes and we learn, early in our life to grace them in every occasion. We study the history of our nation at school and we feel pride about their great accomplishments. But we rarely see the other side of the coin; we hardly ever think about the mental and physical injuries that these people are carrying because of the war and at the same time how many other people our heroes have injured. A war is never the case of a winner and a looser; the truth is far more complicated. We have to bare all these things in mind the next time that we will very easily give a plastic gun to our child to play with. We have to consider the social roles and the stereotypes that we very easily reproduce.
