This project is mainly inspired by the paintings of George de La Tour, a French baroque painter (1593 - 1652). His early work shows influences from Caravaggio. La Tour is best known for the nocturnal light effects which he developed much further than his artistic predecessors had done, and transferred their use in the genre subjects in the paintings of the Dutch Caravaggisti to religious painting in his. His work moves during his career towards greater simplicity and stillness, taking from Caravaggio very different qualities than his Tenebrist followers did. My project is also inspired by the insights of John Alcott (the director of photography who won an Oscar for his work) in the film "Barry Lyndon "directed by Stanley Kubrick where the scenes were taken from paintings. Filming were shot with the help of natural light and the use of candles and oil lamps without artificial light, in order to give the film the look of a painting. But thanks also to the tricks of lighting by John Alcott, the director signed one of the masterpieces of cinema, capturing scenes in candlelight in the interior of "Barry Lyndon". Thanking you for your attention. best regards pino coduti
