The illusion of reality

  • Photographer
    Marta Wapiennik

I get my inspiration from simple things, for example paper, shadow and light. I like abnormal situations and disturbed views and that is what I'm often trying to show in my works. Recently I did my diploma works – screenprints and a series of digitally modified photographs inspired by paper. While I was doing them I considered the topic of deconstruction and abstraction. I wanted to draw the viewer's attention to the pure feeling that can come from the abstract art, without using any narration and decorations. Postmoderne times, which is what we live in now, create possibilities of exploring and diagnosing reality in almost scientific way. (5 works, digital photography, inkjet, dimensions: 2 works 50/70cm, 3 works 35/50cm)
