Broken Dreams

Broken Dreams It struck me when I was in Los Angeles that a lot of people I met were there to follow their dreams. They were trying to make it in the movie, music or entertainment business. Pretty much everyone I met was really interested in who I was and what I was doing there. I got the impression they were genuinely sincere and intrigued, but also keen to tell me about themselves and to see if, somehow, I could help them. They were friendly but at the same time it felt like an audition and networking session. Always asking who I knew and what I was doing there. Most people I talked to; waitresses, bartenders, shop assistants, impersonators were pretty much only working those jobs to get by until they landed the job they came to Los Angeles for. They were there, following their dreams. There were so many people in town doing this, it could only mean that many dreams were broken, or yet to be fulfilled. I wanted to capture images of them and the environments they live and work in.
