Crossing Darkness

When I was working on my study of Denver’s Union Station I had taken note of the Millennium Bridge nearby and knew that I would be back to study this as well. It is right around the corner from Union Station and has also undergone some extensive renovation as of the summer of 2014. I have always loved cable-stayed bridges because of the fact that the cables and support system itself is serving a purpose, but done so in a way that is also beautiful. The mast of the Millennium Bridge is right next to a building that is also beautiful in its own architectural right. When I was approaching the bridge for the first time to study my angles, this was one I took special note of. I did not capture the image right then, but instead took my time to walk the area and study all the possibilities. I worked a few hours before returning to this vantage point, and after all of that, it turned out that it was my favorite after all. Funny how that works out! I really love the way these two elements are “Crossing Darkness” almost as if two sailboats crossing paths in the middle of the night. In fact, the mast of the Millennium Bridge looks as if it is a mast off of a really big sailboat. I hope that you like this image as much as I did in the creation of it. Cheers!
