Avoriaz is one of the most original european alpine ski resort. Perched high on a rocky promontory it looks down over the cliff edge near Morzine in the region of the Haute-Savoie in France, Avoriaz is instantly recognizable for its dynamic architecture, based on the concept that in nature there are no right-angles. The buildings are mainly fabricated from wood and slate and blend well into the colours of the cliffs. Many of the designers that have contributed to the development of this place have won prestigious awards. In my images the improbable buildings of Avoriaz, have been dismantled and reassembled in surreal visions, abstract architectures. Repeated shapes and lines that create a fictional universe in which to lose, immersed in a kaleidoscope able to return a new fantasy world.

Maurizio Cintioli was born in 1964. He currently lives and works in Rome, where he got his degree at the Istituto Europeo di Design with a three-years course and later graduated in Communication Science. After many years of significant works in the field of the advertising photography, he decided to extend his visual experience to the fine art photography. He has presented and published several of his works in personal and collective exhibitions and in magazines and some of them are part of private collections.
