Wooden Churches

I am an italian man living in Russia and one of the things that fascinates me the most in this country, besides its many natural beauties is its orthodox traditional churchies, monasteries and cathedrals. Thanks to my recent trip from St.Petersburg, through Carelia and all the way to the White Sea, i had an opportunity to see some of the most beautiful and fascinating man created exemples of 18 th century wooden architecture. This is our unique heritage and needs our protection. Some creations’ cultural value has been recently recognized by UNESCO, others have been surviving thanks to the help of the local population and monks.
