The series was created in the columbarium of the crematorium in Berlin. Following closure and sale of the crematorium, the burial vaults were closed down and vacated. The working title is derived from the numbers that mark the niches. The addition of further images can be continued ad infinitum. The urns constitute individual sculptural forms situated within a strictly serial arrangement of niches. The numbers in the niches denote their role in a superordinate system. An actual urn occupies the central foreground of each image yet can be seen only from the rear. It therefore functions as a mantle for content that is not further specified. Thus pictures were taken whose centre is a neutral absence. Pigment Prints: 80 cm x 54 cm Berlin, 2013
