The Other

The portraits were taken with a cell phone camera. They illustrate the technology of the medium and the people I am close to. Pigment Prints: 80 cm x 120 cm Hamburg, 2013 Artist Statement Death, capital, transparency and simulation are all reflected in my work. Alone digital photography triggers an impulse in me to take photographs. It is a form of photography that is capable of producing prospective images. The question of the real referent of a photograph is thereby secondary. The question has become largely irrelevant in the digital age. The digital medium strives for optimisation and idealisation. It is hence more closely bound up with the mental dimension than any medium to date. That is why it exerts such fascination and is so ardently coveted.
