Reggio di Calabria is a town in southern Italy. On the 9th of October 2012, the temporary receivership of Reggio di Calabria was approved unanimously by the Italian Council of Minister. Anna Maria Cancellieri, Minister of the Italian Home Office at the time, announced it at a press conference. She spoke of it as an agonizing decision aimed to give back to citizens the legality without which a development would be impossible. The decision is historic: for the first time in Italy a district and administrative center is supervised. Altough Reggio di Calabria was a short step from disarray, the 250 pages of report of the “Commissione di Accesso” (with over 3000 pages of attachment) lead the Council of Minister to the termination of the town council on the score of criminal conspiracy. In fact, most of the pages demonstrate the connection between the town council and the 'Ndrangheta. And so the Age of “modello Reggio“ is over. After 10 years of monopoly by the right wing by Giuseppe Scopelliti (from 2002 to 2010) first, and then Demetrio Arena during the following 2 years (2010-2012). This work is a look on the town after the “modello Reggio”.
