3P’s In this society, Lizette Schaap experiences that we have to achieve a lot before our 30th birthday. That we have to run every day and that we must live for the future instead of in the ‘here and now’. Dealing with the haste the society puts on us, and to get more peace in our life with the purpose of consciously living in the present. That's what Lizette wants to achieve with her project 3P’s. The motivation for creating the 3P’s project stems from dissatisfaction with the present society Lizette lives in. Our speed of life and consumer behaviour brings harm to ourselves, other people and to the planet, especially in places where people don’t consume the way we do. Lizette Schaap learned about the sustainability principle 3P’s (People, Planet and Profit) during her engineering education. This triangle should be balanced. If it’s not, the other elements will suffer. For example: when the focus of building an apartment complex is only on profit, the environment will suffer and very likely also the comfort of the people who will live there. The focus of the project is on People and Planet. Profit is the balance disruptive factor. Within the project, Lizette creates several series about different themes, including i.a.: the relationship between waste and dead birds; slowing down; the effect of our consumerism on the planet and listen to your body. Lizette combines objects that don’t occur together in real life, which results in a bit surreal images with which Lizette wants to arouse the curiosity of the viewer. The images remain a little mystique and do not directly expose the message Lizette wants to tell the world but raise questions that can be answered by interpretation and context. By working on this project Lizette Schaaps life became calmer and she lives more conscious. Lizette hopes to achieve a little of that same goal within the people who see her work.
