Butteri

The butteri, the cowboys version of the roman countryside, were for centuries the symbol of the roman herdsam for their characteristic to move the livestock by horseback riding across the territory of the "Maremma Laziale", coutryside surrounding Rome. At time to trade, the "butteri" chaperon (escort) the cattle to Rome. They entered at "Porta del Popolo" and paraded the center of Rome to arrive at the "Campo Vaccino" market near the "Fori Imperiali". The shoot was taken on March 6 2011 in Piazza del Popolo in Rome during an event, "rinascita di una tradizione" part of the Roman Carnival, to celebrate these times.
