The project, started in 2011 and still ongoing, is about the contact within photographer and subject when they listen to the same tune. Within the language of music, every man or woman can be considered as the same: from politicians to tramps, anyone can have access to music and embody it in a peculiar way. "Within" is not only about portraiture, but is also a sort of insight of social relevance: music is one of the few common denominators in people's lives at all levels, and to me this is the key of the project. Each portrait was shot without the use of words: the only sound was one single song, chosen by the subject, played in loop. The obsessive mood and rhythm created by music led every time to a climax of intensity, the peak of which resulted in the chosen pictures (one for each subject). So far, the entire project amounts to about thirty portraits.
