Burn is one of the major causes of childhood illnesses in Bangladesh and is the third leading cause of illness of one to four year-old children. Around 1,700 children are fatally burnt each year. This is approximately five children a day. Burns injure more than 240,000 people each year where over 1,70,000 of them are children. Young children, females, and rural dwellers are at the highest risk.
