I'm someone else, I'm elsewhere

This work speaks of teenagers, hosted in a psychiatric rehabilitation community, and their suspended lives. The "suspension" is the key element underpinning the work. We enter a place / non-place, in a space and in a time of transition where tormented souls constantly destroy and rebuild the complex mosaic of their psyche in a continuous search of themselves and of their personal balance. A microcosm where they build especially relationships that they have never experienced, but which they all feel a strong desire to build. It is in these relationships that they learn the basics of everyday life: washing, eating, buying cigarettes. Together in their loneliness, they get close, grow apart, hate, love each other’s with an intensity exasperated by their condition of detachment from "normal." This is our vision of the young people, boys that were never children, looking for an adult's hand guiding them but above all to accept them for what they are, keenly aware of being different. We do not care about the pathology or the offence, nor do we want to look at them with indulgence. We build expectations on the future with them. Moreover, as Brecht said, we are all born mad. Some remain so. The line is up to us to move. OMD Project: Cristina Aruffo Eleonora De Marinis Santolo Felaco
