Karen Knorr was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1954,raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico in the 1960s. and educated in Paris and London. The first part of India Song was awarded the Pilar Citoler V International Photography Award in 2010. India Song explores the cultural heritage of Indi referencing the Ramayana and Pancha Tantra combining wildlife photography of Animals in India with architectural sites throughout India. Her photography develops a critical and playful dialogue with documentary photography using different visual and textual strategies to explore her chosen subject matter that ranges from the family and lifestyle to the animal and its representation in the museum context..Since 2010 she has been Professor of Photography at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey. She lives and works in London.
