Could be this work on a hotel with a thousand attractions, which let their dogs and cats comfortable while you enjoying a deserved day of rest? Yes, it could be, but it was not the same. In Quinta Monte dos Vendavais this strength is led by veterinarian Patricia Duarte, along with physical therapy assistent Alda Malveiro who welcomes dogs referenced by veterinarians or by the simple option of the owners, who these days are more aware and alert to the well being of their animals.
Cats, here, not see them. Not because they are not able to receive them, but because it is not frequent. Free way, then, for dogs that suffer accidents and carry with them a number of ailments, to those where the lack of physical exercise maximizes the obesity problems, as well as those in old age. These are the main reasons that lead people to seek this farm, established in 1984 by Orlando Almeida, and that has this service in the field of physiotherapy and physical Animal Rehabilitation since 2004.
In the division intended for center services we find the appropriate conditions for the clinical specificity of each animal. On one side is the part connected to the hydrotherapy, consisting of pool and underwater treadmill equipped with heated water. The equipment is indifferent to some, who exercise with the confident air of one who does every day and that it is something for babies but for others, are scary, what is perceived by the look that denounces the uneasiness of movements or by audible barking.
Regardless of the state of mind, nothing else matters than the rapid and full recovery. If the end of each exercise brings a biscuit, then, it was worth it. In one of these moments, between words and gentle gestures that seek to convey reassurance to animals to the proper development of exercise, Patricia, who has 16 years of occupation - three of them on the farm - tells us that the "work in water is excellent because it does not lead to stress on the joints, allowing an exercise without pain. " The thesis is proven in time. Slow but steady pace, the pit bull Onyx shows how.
On the other side are concentrated spaces for exercise, massage and electro-stimulation. On one wall are affixed photographs of so-called "dog house" or of those who attended the space, appearing as an incentive to the dogs, and why not also to the owners also, that the work is practiced there and the investment made effectively serve to improve the quality of life of animals.
At the end, after another session, the routine always starts with revigorating bath. More relaxed, it is time to dry the dog's fur. The warm wind of the dryer machine leaves them ready for another. In this process, the empathy between dog and employee provides for more than once an unexpected lick in gratitude. Stroked his head and comforted mind, now its time for goodbyes and return home. One of the phrases that Patricia keeps in mind was told when in the end of a successful treatment, a man gave a sense "thanks for everything that you did for us." "The 'us' may be lame, but it's very rewarding," as confiding the veterinarian.
Now it's time to sweep away the clumps of fur, wash the floor, put wet towels in the the laundry basket, extend the life jackets, clean the glass of the rectangular unit which is the water treadmill, and cover the pool. Get everything ready. Until next lick.
