Island winter

  • Photographer
    Ingun Alette Maehlum

The winters can be rough above the polar circle. People have to adapt to nature. Traditionally people on the island on Tussoy lived from farming and fishing, and respect towards nature is essential. You have to adapt and be humble. If you try to conquer nature, it will become your enemy. This humility and knowledge can take years to learn - sometimes it takes generations. The story is from the island of Tussoy in Northern Norway.
