Tivoli Corner, Bank of England

Tivoli Corner, Bank of England: This tableau is a temporal study of the Tivoli Corner; a surviving feature, albeit modified, of Sir John Soane's Bank, built in 1788-1827. The elements of the picture, taken over a two-hour period, are stitched together to represent the rapidity of urban encounters. There exists a dichotomy of social status within the picture: yet each individual, just for a fleeting moment, is connected through a race against time. Furthermore, this picture has very little to do with an objective representation of place, and more to do with the imaginative possibility of place.
