The Greek island of Lesvos, an island with a population of 80,000 people, located in the East Aegean Sea has captivated international attention amid this refugee crisis, has received over 406,000 refugees and migrants since the beginning of 2015, according to the latest available data by the United Nations Refugee Agency. That is more than half of the 703,000 people who have arrived in Greece throughout this calendar year. It is the single greatest entry point of new arrivals into Europe. Thousands of people have been reaching the island’s shores on a daily basis for the past few months. On November 13th, the UNHCR reported that more than of 3,000 people are arriving on the island of Lesvos, on average, each day
