It’s a surreal experience to bare witness to such an immeasurable misfortune. Yet this sentiment subsides quickly as one becomes consumed by worry and compassion for those that have been so warm in their welcome and so forthcoming in their depiction of the mortal purgatory they have endured for as long as they can remember. The visit to the Almaamadani Muslim cemetery was one of the most tragic chapters of the Gazan story, narrated in the words of the very people for whom this reality is to be a detestable constant until they each arrive to the same inevitable conclusion, death. Unless awareness of this disastrous situation spreads and urgent action is taken to relieve their suffering, then perhaps this is the happiest ending these families can hope for.
