The refugee crisis in Europe has been called the worst since the Second World War. 2015 was the year, where many Europeans for the first time realized just how serious the crises has become. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) hundreds of thousands of people have fled towards Northern Europe - almost half crossing the Aegean Sea and into Greece. Over the summer Lesvos became the main gate to the European Union, where local volunteers at the northern beach counted upwards of 60 boats a day filled to the brim with men, woman and children of all ages on their way north where they hope to find a brighter future.
