The Death Railway

Japan has been at war against China, in their second Sino-Japanese war, from 1937. On December 7th 1941, as believed from many historians, was the beginning of the Pacific War, on which this date Japan invaded Thailand and attacked the British. The Japanese were then developing plans to invade India during the dry season of 1943/44. To achieve this they needed to have an alternative route rather than the other that depended upon travel by sea. The project was a 415-kilometre (258 mi) railway between Ban Pong, Thailand, and Thanbyuzayat, Burma, also called, The Death Railway.
