The Burren

The fifteen panoramas are a body of work from a three-month study of the variations in landscape found around the Burren during my time in Ireland from September-December, 2015. For this body of work I submerged myself into the surrounding landscape physically, and mentally. I photographed particular scenes almost subconsciously considering my already established fascination with the natural world, finding beauty and wonder within the most ordinary things, making it a personal practice to photograph anything I found to be slightly interesting. I found the variety of landscapes to be very inspiring because I have saw/seen things here in the Burren that I have never seen in my life before being there. Wandering through unknown territory is something that I find to be very cleansing for the soul, even spiritual in a way, especially considering the mysticism and history of the land itself. With this experience in Ireland being my first time outside of the United States, as well as being away from home for a period of time I found myself to feel very foreign within the spaces that surrounded me. This series of photographs embodies my personal experience, my reaction to being in a totally new place, and the exploration through the surrounding landscapes near where I stayed, and village of Ballyvaughan, Ireland.
