Zebras on golden grass

  • Photographer
    Ramona Reichert

Leaving the Serengeti National Parc in Tanzania, a big zebra group - part of migration - was standing close to the gravel road near Naabi Hill Gate. The picture is intentionally overexposed. The zebras with their black stripes give a great contrast to the golden grass. Their pattern is a beautiful graphical design that works even better in black and white. Zebras are not easy to photograph as they often have their heads down for grazing. Moments before the picture, a hyena was hunting a young Thomson gazelle and so the zebras were still on alert - and all their heads up.
