The people of the Harijan sector, the low caste Hindus, in Chattisgarh, India were denied to enter the temples and forced to use separate wells. As an act of defiance and devotion, they tattooed their bodies and faces with the name of God Ram more than 100 years ago. The sector has now become a dominant force in the religious life of the area and are called for showering blessings in religious functions held by families.
