The popular Mandinga Carnival was born in the fortys in a poor and problematic neighborhood of Mindelo, Cap vert. In the folowing 4 sundays before Mardi gras, men and women gather and grease their bodies with kitchen oil and then they rub all over them batterie powder until they are really black. As creole people they revive like that their black origines, creating the figure of king Mandinga, an ethnie from west africa
