Who are we - and if so, how many? Identity is the keyword. “It can be seen as the answer to the question which family do I come from and who are the othersâ€. It’s not wise knowledge to say that today it’s almost normal for people to have more than just one identity. New media’s triumph has put the question of our self, within the family and the social environment, into a brand-new focus. Because online we can blatantly create our own identity. And also the selfie-mania facilitates it: I could be like that. Or: is that me? And even when we’re offline it’s not so easy to clearly define our self. Because we can reinvent ourselves over and over again. Some spend a lifetime trying to find for their identity, others lose it. Writers, philosophers, and physicians are also trying to find out who we really are and what our role in the family is.
