Rio 2016 Olympics: the peak of achievement for the Olympic athlete is the gold medal. Their training, their whole life is driven by the desire to become the world's best. In this series I aim to capture the moment of glory; every shot registers the emotion of history being made. I wanted to create still images of the explosion of triumph for which these athletes in this series fought with the entirety of their being. Bolt open the series with his most passionate reaction to winning throughout the Games, when crossing the 200m finish line; then Team GB also crossing the line in jubilation and Mo Farah, crossing the line with his arms like Rio's Redeemer, shocked with his win after falling in the race earlier. The exultation of the spectators packing the iconic Maracana and screaming alongside 200 million football fanatics at the precise moment the ball hits the back of the net, and Neymar celebrates Brazil's first Olympic football gold. Then the series moves to shots of Simone, Phelps and Bartoletta in amazing action for their medals. The series end, here, with Elaine Thompson stretched on the track, shocked as her 200m gold, winning her a 'sprint double', sinks in- pure epiphany.
