Mangroves straddle the connection between land and sea. Their dense roots help bind and build soils, slowing down water flows and encouraging sediment deposits that reduce coastal erosion. Their complex root system filters nitrates, phosphates and other pollutants from the water, improving water quality. Mangroves also capture massive amounts of carbon dioxide emissions. Mangroves are nature’s coast guards and are protecting the coastline for everyone.
