The process of reconciling to my roots led me to Mimesis: a series of photos of vegetables, often the focus of classic Still Lifes. Is Mimesis a game? An act of illusion? Yes, but it has many more connotations: representation, expression, imitation, and the presentation of the self. Through listening to my subjects, I hoped to give them a voice; through taking the time to explore, I gave them a new life, not for what they are but for what they could be. Mimesis is the transformation that I see in the subjects shifting from both shapes and energies as they reveal their hidden part.
