Sometimes the artist knows what she wants to express, sometimes she discovers it along the way. These pictures are the first of a « fantasy tale like » series in development. It came to me through a surrealist vision: a little girl grows a hand in a pot, she lovingly and tenderly takes care of it. The plants on the wall around the girl are free and thinking creatures. The hand is one of the most expressive parts of the body. It takes, it gives and it has a great ability to express our thoughts and emotions.

Once a Parisian, now a Montrealer, Anne-Claire Vimal du Monteil studied cinema, history of art and philosophy. She worked at the Orsay Museum and in L’Archipel, a parisian movie theater dedicated to movie music before devoting herself to photography and photographic post-production. Her artistic projects revolve partly around dreamlike, poetic or symbolic staging, plastic experimentation being at the heart of her photographic work.
