‘Blanc Subterfuge’ series This landscape series emblematically depicts a future interpretation of the effects of global warming and environmental damage. The series is an exaggerated impression of what normal life, though my eyes could be after many years of earth, degeneration and disrespect. This body of work encapsulates the stark contrast of our current way of living and common ideologies’ of what could, for future generations be a reality. This project gave me the opportunity to photograph areas of space to portray a barren waste-scape with the use of blinding light. For this body of work colour photography was too distracting so I chose to use black and white tones to give the stark, high key visual aesthetics to highlight the sparse and empty feeling of despair. The minimalistic style and space captured within this series symbolizes the emptiness in commercial greed which foreshadows on a whole, globally, the need for decisive action to what we have done before it can no longer be undone. The remaining focal subjects provide strength to what needs to be addressed, of which the general populism are striving to do.
