The relationship between light and lines and shapes characterizes the appearance of a landscape. This interaction ranges from optical insignificance to the triggering of strong emotional impressions. The same landscape appears differently at different times on one and the same viewer. For some landscapes are the totals of physical properties: hills, rivers, cliffs and green fields. Others, on the other hand, fascinate forms, structures, the play between light and shadow.
