An innocent girl looks into a room where a chair is waiting for her. The setting is one of abandonment and melancholy with a number and even a hint of a swastika on the wall. How to cope with the burden of a tragic history? The premises of a sanitarium fallen into disuse in which the girl appears have survived both WWI and WWII. Hitler was treated in this hospital during both wars. The life of a Jewish girl wasn’t worth anything during this tragic war, she was just a number… With the Jewish girl portraits I want to explore the contrasts between beauty and transience on the one hand and atrocities of deportation and extermination on the other.
