The World's asylum seekers are used as political pawns by those who stand to gain. Iraq Abdullatif Almoftaji was just 17 years old when apprehended trying to enter Australia 4 years ago. His life in detention on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea was hell. I made this image of Abdullatif after he was arrested, beaten by police and security and locked in the Manus Island police station wearing just torn shorts for an alleged drunken event. Australia has since deported Abdullatif back to Iraq.
