Playing with Time is a photobook about people who re-enact the Napoleonic Wars, who attempt to reconstruct the past as closely as possible, trying to conceal all traces of modern times. I was fascinated by the idea that it was impossible to describe the Battle of Borodino (1812) through photography. So I created a story about a reconstruction of the battle. I was very much assisted in my task by the drawings of a witness to the events of 1812, Noirot, a horse grenadier from Napoleon’s army. His sketches glued into the book in the beginning of each scene seem to make these scenes come to life.

Andrey's focus is on visual stories based on documentaries, daily life and street photography. His projects "Crossings" (2014) and Quickgold (www.quickgold.ru) received international awards in the IPA (International Photography Awards), MIFA (Moscow International Photo Awards), FAPA (Fine Art Photography Awards), One Eyeland, PX3 (Prix de la Photographie Paris) photography competitions. His fresh project "Game of Time" (www.time.gordasevich.ru) concerns the re-enactment of the battle of Borodino (1812), which happened during the Russian campaign of Napoleon.
