Over 100,000 people from the occupied West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem take Red Cross buses every year to visit their relatives detained in Israel. The majority are women, mothers and wives, who build their lives around the prison visits. Every month, they take a twelve-hour trip to see their husbands and sons through a glass screen for 45 minutes. The rest of the time, these women live on their own, taking care of children and elderly relatives, in a deeply patriarchal society suffocated by over fifty years of military occupation.
